Privacy

UNVEL is a personal, non-commercial project run by Miguel. He is responsible for the data described here. You can reach him at unvelmusic@gmail.com.

You can read and listen without an account, and then we collect nothing about you. If you sign in with Google to vote, we keep:

• Your name and email address, which Google shares when you sign in.
• Your votes: the score you give each record and your favourite song.

We never see your Google password and we don't get access to anything else in your Google account: not your contacts, your files or your email.

• To make sure each person votes once per record and can change their vote until Sunday.
• To show your name in the menu while you are signed in.
• To work out the results of each week: the average score, how the scores were spread and the favourite song.

No other user can see your vote, not while the week is open and not after it closes. The results only ever show the whole group together: the average, how many people gave each score and which song was picked most. Your name is never shown next to a score. Your vote is stored in the database only so it can be counted. We don't sell or share your data, and we don't use it for advertising.

UNVEL runs on a few outside services, which handle data only to keep the site working:

• Google, for signing in.
• Supabase, which stores accounts and votes on servers in Ireland (EU).
• Vercel, which hosts the site. Its Web Analytics and Speed Insights count visits and measure how fast pages load. They don't use cookies and don't identify you.
• Cover Art Archive, which serves the record covers straight to your browser.
• Spotify, whose player is embedded on record pages. If you press play, Spotify's own privacy policy applies.

We only use cookies the site needs to work, and none for tracking or advertising:

• One that remembers you have already seen the welcome page.
• The ones that keep you signed in, if you sign in.

We keep your account and votes for as long as the account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your name, email and votes. Results of weeks that have already closed stay as they are, since they don't say anything about you.

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it or to delete it, whenever you like. Just write to unvelmusic@gmail.com from the email you signed in with. If you think we are handling your data badly, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
